Our Vision
Befria Hong Kong aims to:
- Advocate for democracy and human rights, primarily focusing on Hong Kong, but also in East Asia and globally when appropriate.
- Raise awareness of Hong Kong culture.
- Build and strengthen community ties among the Hong Kong diaspora, and between the Hong Kong diaspora and other diaspora communitites commited to democracy and human rights.

Partnered with The Campaign for Hong Kong, Svenska PEN and Reportrar utan gränser. We screened the movie “The Hong Konger”. We highlighted the ongoing detention and trial of #JimmyLai in Hong Kong and how his political persecution endangers free speech and press freedom everywhere.

One of the many ways the Chinese Communist Party continues to influence the public worldwide is through media. The strict censorship of mainland China may seem like an abstract issue in Sweden and for most of the western world, but it does affect us. We just don't always notice it.
